Archer Softball Outlasts Grovetown to Win Region 4-AAAAAA Championship

GROVETOWN — After dropping Wednesday’s opener of a Region 4-AAAAAA fastpitch softball doubleheader at Grovetown, Archer rebounded for an 8-5 victory in the nightcap to win the region championship.

The Tigers lost Game 1 on Wednesday 5-3, evening the season series between the two programs. Archer defeated Grovetown 3-2 in Lawrenceville on Sept. 10 in their first matchup of the season.

Archer improves to 18-3 overall and 16-1 in the region, while Grovetown falls to 21-5 and 13-3.

Alexis Evans (2-for-3, home run, three runs), Addy Smith (2-for-4, two RBIs, two runs), Caylee Lawson (2-for-4, two runs), Kaivi Merritt (1-for-4, two RBIs) and Gaby Morales (1-for-2, two RBIs) led the Archer hitters in the region-clinching victory.
