BUFORD — After watching a 20-point lead disappear in a loss to Seckinger last season, Archer’s football team exacted its revenge Friday night.

The visiting Tigers rolled to a 63-19 win at Seckinger after overwhelming Seckinger over the first two quarters. Archer led 49-7 at halftime behind six first-half touchdowns from quarterback Jordan Do.

“We just want to play to our standard every Friday night,” Archer head coach Dante Williams said. “Last week, we felt like that game (a 28-14 loss at North Cobb) got away. We declared to get back to our process and our fundamentals, and Friday would take care of itself. Seckinger is a heck of a ball club and (head coach) Tony (Lotti) does an incredible job over there.”

The night began under familiar cloudy and wet conditions, but that did not dampen the atmosphere. A Jordan Do pass was intercepted by Seckinger senior Jayden Clarke on the opening drive of the game to give the Jaguars the ball at midfield with 10 minutes remaining in the first quarter. A few plays into the Seckinger opening drive, a 30-yard run by senior Jaimen Williams set up the Jaguars inside the 2-yard line, and senior Harrison Robinson barreled into the end zone from one yard out to give the Jaguars a 7-0 lead with 8:02 left in the first quarter.

On the ensuing Archer drive, a 43-yard bomb from Do to Robbie Dunn quickly had the Tigers in business at the 17-yard line. In the red zone, Do used his legs with great efficiency converting on fourth and two from the nine-yard line before tying the game at seven on a quarterback sneak with 4:53 to go in the first quarter.

The Archer defense made its presence felt as a Nigel Addo sack halted the Seckinger drive. On the next play from scrimmage, things went from bad to worse as a mishandled snap gave Archer the ball at the Seckinger 12-yard line. With just over two minutes left in the first quarter, Archer took advantage of the great field position as a jet sweep to Dunn resulted in a touchdown from 13 yards out. Archer took a 14-7 lead in the final seconds of the first quarter.

Archer’s lead remained 14-7 at the end of the first quarter, but an offensive explosion in the second quarter began with a 50-yard touchdown pass from Do to Cohl Hendon and made the score 21-7 with 9:11 to go in the first half.

Following a Seckinger three and out, Archer started the ensuing drive in Seckinger territory at the 42-yard line with 7:18 left in the first half. The Archer offense quickly took advantage of the quality field position as the Tiger lead ballooned to 28-7 on a 36-yard touchdown pass from Do to Malik Gassant on third and fifteen.

The Tigers’ defense made yet another defense stand as Addo recovered a fumble at the Seckinger 49-yard line. Do continued to do damage with his legs as the senior cashed in on the Seckinger turnover and scampered into the end zone from 32 yards out.

In the final three minutes of the first half, the Archer offense continued to light up the scoreboard with two touchdowns. Nick Nixon found the end zone from 31 yards out, and the Do show continued as he hooked up with Dunn on a 23-yard touchdown pass to make the score 49-7 at the half. Do ended the half with six touchdowns.

“Jordan is a three-year starter for us,” Williams said. “He wants to win everything that he does, and that is his greatest attribute. Then he drives his teammates to win. I am glad he is in the red and silver for us. As 1 goes, we will go.”

In the third quarter, the Archer rushing attack ground away the clock and Tyree Begne got in on the fun with a 6-yard touchdown run to make the score 56-7.

Late in the third quarter, the Seckinger passing attack showed signs of life as Julian Lapene completed three consecutive passes on the drive, before an 8-yard touchdown pass to Damarion Sims capped off the drive to make the score 56-13 in the last seconds of the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Archer finished their night with short yardage touchdown run from Kyle Dejoie from one yard out, making the score 63-13. In the final seconds of the game, Seckinger got a glimpse at the future, as freshman Tristan Robinson ran away from everyone w... Click here to read full article
